But then you are going to get a lot more files that are not backed up due to them being busy. Netbackup use the vsp or vss file to keep track of open files while it tries to back them up. When the backup finished it will delete this file. If the job dies it may get left behind. If your virus scanning software has a hold of it will not get deleted because it is busy.

So you need to make sure you exclude the file you can search this site for lots of info on how to exclude it. You also have an option that if the vsp file needed to back up open files is causing issues because it is being built on a some drive you can change that. By default NB tries to build it on a drive it is NOT backing up, so if you are backing up the E drive it will try to make it on the C drive, but if your C drive is small you have an issue.
